19th January 2011 - Top Magazine Spot for Cherchez

Cherchez has been given a glowing write-up in a feature article in the January/February edition of the Cheshire “Business Update” magazine. Follow the link below and go to page 12.

CHERCHEZ IN CHESHIRE BUSNESS UPDATE

This will be a real boost for the Network and will hopefully attract more ladies to sign up to the regular newsletters as well as attend our popular events.

30th November 2010 - The Weather Causes Havoc!!

Our meeting scheduled to take place in Warrington tomorrow has had to be re-scheduled and it will now take place on Wednesday 15th December, same time, same place. You can check out the details and book a place to join us HERE.

The reason for the shift? This is the view from Cherchez HQ this morning and I’m not budging!!

See you all on 9th December in Manchester at MCFC and 15th December in Warrington.

Cherchez Manchester - 12th November 2010

We had a great turnout for our last Manchester Event which was kindly hosted by Peninsula Business Services. There were plenty of new faces again which is great news and the feedback we have received is really encouraging - see some examples below.

We were treated to an informative and enjoyable presentation from Amanda Chadwick who is a dedicated Peninsula Speaker and an expert in Employment Law and Health & Safety. She certainly created a buzz around the room and provoked some interesting conversations amongst the delegates. Here she is (in her killer heels!) giving us all some food for thought. Amanda regularly delivers a longer seminar on the subject and Cherchez hopes to put something together with her in the Spring.

Our business card was as popular as ever with new-comers Lianne Johnston from the Crowne Plaza Hotel taking the free place at a future event, and Tracey Richley from WPA taking the bottle of fizz. Joanne Beamish from Lloyd Piggott was probably the most popular colleague in Manchester on Friday afternoon, having won Sarah’s latest delicious home made cake. I bet afternoon tea in their office was something to behold!

OUR NEXT EVENT IN MANCHESTER will be at the City of Manchester Stadium on Thursday 9th December, from 12 noon till 2.00 pm in Carlos Tevez’s very own Executive Box. Places are limited to 20 for this event and we already have some bookings. If you’re still not sure what you’re missing out on, read some of the comments below from last week…………

“Enjoyable, great value for money. (I got a free place this week but this comment is based on usual cost!). Entertaining presentation!” - Karen Pheasant

“Excellent venue and guest speaker. Already booked for next time at MCFC and please can we host as early as poss in 2011 at Manchester Conference Centre?” - Judith Rafferty

“Really entertaining and informative talk by Amanda. Fantastic venue. I really like the informal aspect of Cherchez events” - Lisa Gower

“It was again a positive experience and good to see a solid group being formed”

“Relaxed atmosphere, interesting group of ladies. Will be re-visiting. Thanks” - Tracey Richley

“Really enjoyable, food was lovely and presentation very informative”

What are you waiting for? Book a place HERE NOW.

Cherchez Warrington - 3rd November 2010

The new venue for this month’s event proved really popular with the delegates. Partnerships in Care invited us to their training centre in Winwick and it was so convenient - literally just off the M62 and round the corner! We welcomed even more new faces this month and the feedback has been very encouraging yet again, so thank you ladies.

Based on last month’s feedback, Pam Case and Shona Penfold delivered a short presentation which was jam-packed with fantastic hints and tips for Using Linked-In for Business. We’re planning to roll this presentation out to our other groups in the coming months and there’s a chance that a full length seminar may be in the offing for the Spring. Keep your eyes open for more news on that.

We were also joined this month by Rachel Thomas from the Newlife Childrens Charity who bought along a few items to raffle off in support of the Charity. Jo Tabiner won two of the prizes - a Harrods Teddy Bear and a nice bottle of red wine and Therese Markham won a huge box of luxury choccies.

Pam and Shona were fittingly the winners of the two business card draws - Pam taking the bottle of fizz and Shona taking the free place at a forthcoming meeting of her choice. All in all it was a great event and I know some very strong contacts were made.

I’m looking forward to even more contacts now that we all know what to do with Linked-In!

Cherchez Manchester - 15th october 2010

We had a great meeting at Abbey Business Centre on Fountain Street in Manchester last Friday. A delicious light lunch was provided by Franklyn’s Deli and Sarah Batten came up trumps again with a selection of Halloween-themed cupcakes and a huge homemade carrot cake which was won in the business card draw by our hostess for the event, Karen Bray. Other business card draw winners were Nina Latham who took the bottle of bubbly and Karen Pheasant who won herself a free place at a future Cherchez event.

Karen gave us a short presentation on the facilities at Abbey Business Centres and showed a few of the ladies around. The feedback cards were gratefully received and thanks to everyone for their kind comments. There were plenty of new faces again which is great news, as it means the Cherchez message is spreading further afield as each month passes.

Really looking forward to the next couple of meetings taking us up to Christmas - can’t believe it!

Cherchez Stockport - 6th October 2010

Well, just outside of Stockport actually! Our meeting took place at The Brookdale Clinic in Knutsford at the very kind invitation of Cathie Stone. Cathie and her colleagues gave us a really informative presentation on the range of procedures available at the clinic, all of which are designed to promote Youthful Skin, Healthy Body. Here’s Cathie on the right with Clinical Director, Tracey English on the left chatting with Clare Woolstencroft from Manchester City Football Club.

Cathie and her staff very generously provided three vouchers towards treatments at the clinic which were won by Sue Briggs-Harris, Bethan Philips and - I felt terrible about this - ME !! Although there were fewer ladies than normal attending, this was a really superb event with a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Cherchez looks forward to going back to The Brookdale Clinic at some point in the future.

Cherchez Warrington - 29th September 2010

Another well-attended and successful event in Warrington, led by my colleague Liz Booth from Raring2Go. This month saw Pam Case from PC Support Group taking the 15 minute spotlight who is a very experienced networker and a real authority on Linked-In. There was a fair amount of feedback from the delegates indicating that they would benefit from learning more about Linked-In. I’m hoping to put something in place to provide some training for meeting delegates going forward.

A double business card draw took place with Rebecca Hancock winning the bottle of bubbly and Chris Bullock winning a free place for herself at one of the forthcoming events of her choice.

Cherchez Central Manchester Launch - 17th September 2010

A great turnout at the Manchester Launch meeting meant we had a very lively and enjoyable event.

As well as tucking into a light buffet lunch, Sarah Batten had kindly spent the previous evening baking scrumptous cup cakes for the ladies as well as a large coffee and walnut cake which she donated as a bonus business card draw prize. It looked gorgeous and it was won by Catherine Sharpe from the Manchester Conference Centre, pictured here in the centre.

Long-time Cherchez Member, Sarah, took the spotlight to promote her own business - Shout Out Graphics. A summary of her presentation is available to download here.

Despite the failure of the AV facilities and the intrusive music from downstairs letting the venue down a little on the day, it certainly didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the attendees who came from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines.

The winner of the main prize draw for a dinner for two at the Blue Parrot Bar and Grill was Karin Elgar, who runs her own business, Fit With Food. The Blue Parrot kindly threw a bottle of wine in with the bargain too so Karin was a very happy lady - especially as it was her first time at a Cherchez event.

Here’s Karin on the right pictured with Tracey Booth, and here’s what she had to say following the event: “ Just a quick e-mail to let you know that I thoroughly enjoyed the event in Manchester yesterday. I liked the informal and relaxed atmosphere. And winning a dinner for two was of course an extra bonus! I hope to be able to come to another event soon.”

A Real Success in Warrington - 7th July 2010

We recently decided to trial a Cherchez Meeting in Warrington and Liz Booth who runs Raring2Go Warrington kindly offered to host the event. It took place at DriveTime Golf Range on Wednesday 7th July and I am happy to say that it was a resounding success - thanks to all those who attended. Congratulations to Ann Girling from Agenesis who was the lucky winner of the business card draw, walking away with a nice bottle of bubbly kindly donated by DriveTime.
Liz Booth and Louise Webster enjoying their refreshments at the Warrington Launch Event

The venue was superb, very central, free parking, a lovely meeting room and great catering. I know from feedback already received that the ladies who attended were keen to come along again to a future event so Liz has already got it arranged! This will take place at the same venue after the summer holidays. The date for your diary is Wednesday 29th September and you can book your place well in advance by CLICKING HERE. I know Liz is excited about seeing many more of you there!

Here she is at the Launch Event enjoying a light lunch with Louise Webster from Travel Counsellors.

Lunch at the Joshua Bradley - 30th April 2010

We had a lovely lunch meeting at the Joshua Bradley in Gee Cross. Though numbers were down on the usual attendance, there was a lot of lively chat and some good connections were made. We had another couple of “newbies” and Shelley Hesford from SAS Daniels won the business card draw.

Jo McGee and Debbie Watkins took this month’s Members Spotlight to talk about the fundraising they are involved with for Jakob’s appeal. A leaflet can be downloaded here giving details of the Weight Loss Challenge and full details can be found at www.gymophobics-stockport.co.uk along with all the vouchers that can be printed to help raise further funds for Jakob.

Sarah Batten has really got a grasp on this networking lark as you can see from her ability to promote her own business at any opportunity! Go Girl!

29th June 2009

We had another successful lunch event last Friday at the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust near Knutsford. It was well attended and again I’ve had some lovely positive feedback over the weekend. The venue was wonderful and those who took advantage of the tour of the facilities in the glorious sunshine found the whole experience really inspirational.

Cathie Stone from the Brookdale Clinic kindly donated a gift voucher for £35.00 towards any treatment at the Clinic which Cherchez donated on to CAFT to raffle or auction to raise much needed funds for the Farm. Cathie gave her consent of course! She also kindly offered to host one of the future lunch events at the Clinic and I’m very grateful to her for such a generous offer. We will hopefully get there later in the year - possibly October

The business card draw was won by Stacy Gill from Booth Ainsworth and Stacy is entitled to a free place at her next chosen event for herself and a colleague or friend.

The Members Only draw for the Business Owner’s Family Survival Toolkit was won by Victoria Neate, so congratulations to Victoria! Unfortunately Victoria had to pull out of the lunch at short notice but I have informed her of her win and she is thrilled.

Thanks to all who attended and for your positive comments - it makes all my work behind the scenes worthwhile!

5th June 2009

The first Cherchez lunch under my leadership was held last Friday, 29th May, in Stockport and it was a real success. A good mix of professions were represented, Nancy Jaeger of Searchmate North West gave an entertaining insight into the world of match-making and a first-timer walked away with a bottle of fizz after winning the business card prize draw.

I’ve had very positive feedback from the ladies who attended and I’m really looking forward to the next lunch at the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT) near Knutsford which will take place on Friday 26th June. To find out about the wonderful work of CAFT, visit their website here - www.caft.co.uk.

3rd April 2009

Hello Ladies!!

You might have noticed a few tweaks to the site in recent days. That’s because I have now taken ownership of Cherchez and plan to do some great things with it. I’m Helen Byrne and I run my own Virtual PA business (PA-as-you-go.com) in Stalybridge, Cheshire.

Last year, I had the good fortune of meeting Penny Humphries at another ladies networking lunch in Manchester and she told me how she and her partner Karen were hoping to set up a similar group in the Stockport area. I offered my services and within a couple of months Cherchez was born and my partner had designed and built this wonderful website!

When Penny and Karen were unable to maintain the momentum they had planned for Cherchez Events, and were looking for someone to take the network over, it seemed natural for me to step in as I’m already familiar with the site and the workings of it.

My outline plans are to arrange a monthly lunchtime event centred around business networking and then a quarterly evening event with much more of a social focus. Why not drop me an email if you have any suggestions?

The “re-launch” of Cherchez is planned for Monday 20th April so expect to hear from me then with my first newsletter - that’s if you’ve signed up to receive them of course. If not, then do it now - just here on the right……… In the meantime, keep your eye on the website for further developments and news updates.

Helen

31st March 2009

GOOD NEWS!! We have successfully negotiated a transfer of the Cherchez Network to an energetic new owner and all the finer details should be finalised today. We still intend to stay involved with Cherchez, but this time as members. There will be a few minor alterations to be made on the site and so the functionality of some links and buttons etc will be affected for a short period of time. We’re sure a further announcement will be made at the end of the week so please come back again over the weekend!

With our very best wishes for your future success,
Karen Hewlett and Penny Humphries

Many of our existing members and regular visitors to the site will be aware that we have been unable to maintain the momentum of the Cherchez Events in recent months. We are hopeful that this can be remedied in the very near future and will keep you posted of any further developments here.
Come and check in with us again soon!
