It was a pleasure to be back at Hallidays again for the first meeting of 2012, where Anna and the team made the Cherchez feel very welcome, as always. The delegates, both old and new faces, enjoyed a delicious light lunch with plenty of networking time and lots of new contacts were made. “I really enjoyed my visit to the Cherchez women’s networking event. The meeting was friendly and informal and the ladies were strong, successful business women keen to knowledge share and help others. Thanks again.”

The last Stockport Cherchez ladies networking lunch of the year was held at Edgeley Park, the home of Sale Sharks and Stockport County FC. We were welcomed to the venue by a new member of the Cheshire Conferencing team – Alissa Evans – who has only been with the team for 1 week and gave us a short presentation of the facilities that Edgeley Park has to offer and details of some of the upcoming entertainment evenings. Carla Baumgardt gave a talk on Power Play in the Workplace and we enjoyed a fabulous buffet lunch - always a highlight at this venue!

In our regular business card draw, Sharon Lomas of FinePrint won a free place at a future networking event and Jacqui Knowles started her Christmas celebrations early as she won the bottle of fizz!

November’s meeting was held at a brand new venue at Pepper House in Hazel Grove near Stockport, this was Helen’s first meeting at the helm and she was delighted with such a great turnout. After a tasty buffet lunch we heard Karen Hands from Phenomenal Woman and Thought Into Action speak about the benefits of being a confident presenter and how she survived the very male-dominated world of engineering.

There were a wide range of businesses in the room and even some ladies who were very new to networking although you wouldn’t have realised!

Here’s what Cherchez Newbie Sarah Bracegirdle had to say: “Great location for the meeting with lovely lunch. Karens talk was very interesting and there was a nice mix of people there.”

In the prize draw Carla Baumgardt won the bottle of cava, Karen Nolan won a free place at a meeting and Ruth James won Karen’s quiz prize.

Stockport - 21st October 2011

We had a nice mix of businesses represented at the last Stockport event and after Helen Jones’s interesting and insightful presentation, we were all able to spot the diverse mix of personalities too. It was really quite good fun! This was an ideal meeting to introduce Helen as the new face of Cherchez Stockport. From 1st November she will be organising and hosting all future Cherchez network meetings for the Stockport area and I know she’ll do a fantastic job. Following our light lunch and plenty of chit-chat, the business card draw saw Nancy Jaeger take away a voucher for the restaurant at the Bamford Arms - fitting as it was her birthday! - and Carly Borne from Gorvins Solicitors start her weekend off with a lovely bottle of Prosecco. Not bad for a first-timer.

Stockport - 22nd September 2011

Thursday 22nd of September saw a very welcome return to one or our favourite venues, Edgeley Park/ Cheshire Conference & Events Centre. A fantastic turnout comprising the welcome return of some Cherchez regulars and some new faces which resulted in a buzzing, friendly and informal atmosphere where plenty of networking got under way whilst the delegates munched on an outstanding buffet prepared by Edgeley Park’s expert catering team. Rachel Bolas and Joanne Stevenson were on hand to tell us more about the impressive venue, the facilities that it houses and the wide range of events that it hosts. Our guest speaker, journalist and PR expert Mary Murtagh ran a hugely informative mini-workshop after we’d all filled ourselves with tea, coffee, wraps, salad, hot buffet items, mini treats and fresh fruit. You could almost see smoke rising from the note paper as Mary delivered her top ten tips for SMEs to break into the media without costing them a penny! Feedback was hugely complimentary and Cherchez is looking forward to working with Mary again in the future with plans in place for a full workshop. And as if that wasn’t enough value the business card draw made winners of Jane Bennett who won a 10% discount on any event hosted by Edgeley Park, Shelley Hesford who won a free place at a future networking lunch and Jane Vigon who walked away with a bottle of sparkling rose!

Stockport - 19th May 2011

This month’s Cherchez meeting saw a bumper turnout with over 20 business women attending the event hosted by SAS Daniels LLP. The room was absolutely buzzing with conversation and it was a delight to see some Cherchez regulars reaping the benefits whilst welcoming some new faces. You could see the business cards flying around the room as delegates sipped coffee, nibbled on sandwiches and feasted on a gorgeous fruit platter. During the meeting Shelley Hesford, a partner of SAS Daniels LLP and specialist in Family Law, took the spotlight to raise the contentious issue of pre-nuptial agreements which couldn’t have been more topical. The business card draw saw Shelley win a bottle of bubbly (deserved after those high-powered court cases) and Gayle Owen win a free place at another Cherchez networking lunch of her choosing. I thoroughly enjoyed this meeting as did Cherchez newbee Sara Berry who commented ‘I found it very welcoming and well organised. Very beneficial.’

Stockport - 19th April 2011

Our April Stockport event took place on a gloriously sunny afternoon at Hallidays Accountants where we networked and munched on Easter biscuits in a large bright and airy suite at the premises.

Hallidays were fantastic hosts and all delegates benefitted form a 15 minute presentation from Anna Bennett of Hallidays who talked us through an exercise to explore and analyse our work/life balance. The activity was enlightening and many who attended found that there were areas of their life that could be adjusted to enable them to achieve their business and personal objectives.

Our relaxed event saw some new faces as well as some Cherchez regulars – all who found a warm welcome and gave lots of positive feedback. As if this wasn’t enough, several candidates walked away with prizes. Lucky Susan Southern won half a day business development consultation with Hallidays, Paulette Bansal won a £25 Hobbs voucher, Carrie Green left with a bottle of bubbly and Anna Filitova is welcome back to a Cherchez lunch of her choice free of charge! Roll on our next Stockport event which takes place on May 19th at SAS Daniels on Greek Street. Can’t wait!

Stockport - 17th March 2011

We had a really good meeting last week at Edgeley Park, home of Stockport County FC and Sale Sharks. Rachel Bolas really made everyone feel very welcome and the buffet lunch was amazing - lots of very positive feedback there! As well as hosting the meeting Rachel also donated a fantastic prize for the business card draw - 4 tickets (worth £90) to a forthcoming tribute evening including a three course meal. The very lucky winner of that top prize was Helen Down from Booth Ainsworth, so well done Helen! Others prize winners were Caroline Pollitt from Serenity who won the bottle of fizz, Donna Liley from AV Media who took Sarah’s delicious home made cake, and Barbara Golden from HSBC who won a free place at a future Cherchez event. This month’s event saw Cherchez return to The Old Rectory in the centre of town and it was an intimate affair by all accounts. A couple of really good contacts have been made and Theresa Cearns gave a very informative presentation on her work as a will writer. She also very kindly donated a complimentary will writing consultation worth £100 to our business card draw.

Just some of the lovely comments we received following our most recent event in Stockport, kindly hosted by Sublime Dental Care, where we were treated to a glass of champagne and some lovely cupcakes.

After some informal networking, our ladies were treated to a demonstration of Botox injections on a very brave Sue Diamond, and there was time for a short Q&A session before the business card draw took place.

Sublime had very kindly donated a voucher for a tooth whitening course worth £695 which was won by a Cherchez Newbie, Rachel Dumont-Baber. Two more first-timers were also winners in the draw with Chris Marsden taking the bottle of bubbly and Clare Cooper taking the free place for a future Cherchez event.

Cherchez Stockport - 6th October 2010

Well, just outside of Stockport actually! Our meeting took place at The Brookdale Clinic in Knutsford at the very kind invitation of Cathie Stone. Cathie and her colleagues gave us a really informative presentation on the range of procedures available at the clinic, all of which are designed to promote Youthful Skin, Healthy Body. Here’s Cathie on the right with Clinical Director, Tracey English on the left chatting with Clare Woolstencroft from Manchester City Football Club.

Cathie and her staff very generously provided three vouchers towards treatments at the clinic which were won by Sue Briggs-Harris, Bethan Philips and - I felt terrible about this - ME !! Although there were fewer ladies than normal attending, this was a really superb event with a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Cherchez looks forward to going back to The Brookdale Clinic at some point in the future.
